Upcoming Events
Every fall Act of Giving begins a series of meetings and events aimed at selecting grantees and celebrating their work by awarding them a grant. Below are the four big events that help in this process.

Summer Grant Celebration Event - Every summer we invite the grantees for the year to attend a celebration in their honor. We rent some space in the city and listen to the grantees speak about their organization and how the grant will help their work. Light food and drinks are provided and it has proven to be a fun night of meeting new people and learning about great work being done by organizations.
General Info Session - Prior to all Annual Meetings, we hold a general info session for those interested in joining Act of Giving. At this time we go over the history of Act of Giving and the current grant process. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get information about joining. If during this session you decide you want to be a part of Act of Giving, you can stay and participate in the Annual Meeting and help to determine the theme for 2009.
Annual Meeting – This is the time of year where we come together and review the funds we have to donate for 2011. This is followed by a brainstorm of potential grant themes. Once the themes are narrowed down a vote is made. The Annual Meeting has historically been a day of inspiration as we hear about all the potential areas of need in our world and have open discussions around where our donation could have a big impact.
Grant Kickoff Meeting - Once the theme is determined, our grants committee pulls together resources around the topic and holds a kickoff meeting to discuss where we may find non-profits that are working to improve conditions in this area. One of the more inspirational meetings, we find that not only is this helpful to refresh our passion for the grant cycle, but also to learn about where other members have been inspired around this topic. We often come out of this meeting with a renewed excitement over finding a worthy non-profit and proposing a grant on their behalf.
Grant Decision Event - Once the votes are in the grants committee pulls us together for a happy hour to announce the winners. This is a fun casual night of celebration where we can raise a drink to the winners.
